YMI is a group-based mentoring program that supports high school–aged young men as they build confidence, leadership skills, and concrete plans for their future. As a mentor, you’ll help guide students through conversations and activities centered on social-emotional learning, college and career readiness, financial literacy, global citizenship, and creative self-expression.

  • Group mentoring with up to 8 students

  • Meet twice per month starting now through June 2026

  • Mentors of all genders are welcome!

  • Must be 21+ years old

  • Receive a travel stipend of $85/month!

School locations & times in need of mentors, starting ASAP through June 2026:

  • High School for Medical Professions, Canarsie, Brooklyn:

Mon, Wed, & Friday :2:30 PM to 4:30 PM

  • High School for Public Service, East Flatbush, Brooklyn:

Mon & Wed, 2:45 PM to 5:00 PM

  • High School for Global Citizenship, Crown Heights, Brooklyn:

Mon, Tues, & Wed 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Fri: 1:15 PM to 2:30 PM

You don’t need to have any prior teaching or mentoring experience; just a willingness to listen, show up consistently during a formative time in young peoples' lives, and model what it looks like to move through the world with intention and care.
