Global Kids – Washington, D.C.
Global Kids equips young people across Washington, D.C. with the knowledge, skills, confidence, and support they need to thrive in school, pursue their goals, and contribute to their communities.
Through school-day, after-school, summer, and community-based programs, students examine local and global issues, develop their voices, build meaningful relationships, and discover their ability to create positive change. Our culturally responsive, youth-centered approach brings learning to life through discussion, creative projects, civic action, college and career exploration, cultural experiences, and student leadership.
Youth Leadership in Action
Global Kids’ Annual Youth Conference is a signature expression of GK–DC’s youth-led approach. Each year, the conference brings together young people and educators from across Washington, D.C. for a full day of peer-led workshops, performances, plenary sessions, and discussions centered on a youth-selected global human rights theme.

GK–DC students lead every stage of the process. Youth conference planners research issues, select the theme, design peer-education workshops, recruit speakers, develop conference materials, coordinate activities, and create a call to action for participants.
