WASHINGTON, DC

Global Kids brings over 28 years of youth development experience to its Washington program. Since expanding to the DC area in 2010, Global Kids has inspired hundreds of underserved youth to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to participate in the democratic process, engage actively in their communities, and achieve academic and professional success in an interdependent, technologically sophisticated global society.

GK-DC school-based programs engage youth in interactive global affairs workshops, leadership training, field trips, service projects, peer education, dialogue with experts, and college and career exploration. The programs are facilitated by Global Kids staff and teachers at participating school sites.

In the 2016-2017 school year, GK-DC operates at Anacostia High School, Ballou High School, Bell Multicultural High School, H.D. Woodson High School and McKinley Technolgy High School.

2015-2016 GK-DC Outcomes:

  • 95% of GK-DC seniors graduated from high school
  • 95% of those seniors are enrolled in college.
